Vision

The vision of the Central Virginia All Hazards Incident Management Team is to be prepared to help when citizens need us most.

About

The Central Virginia All-Hazards Incident Management Team (CVAHIMT) is a Type-3 incident management team, and was established to support the needs of the Central Virginia Region for management of major incidents and planned events that require a public safety response. The team operates consistent with the FEMA All-Hazard Incident Management Team - Technical Assistance Program. The CVAHIMT believes public safety response is best managed by an all hazards approach. This would include responding with an established team, qualified under the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ICS), to serve in assigned management and operational positions.

This initiative supports the region’s efforts toward full compliance with the core requirements of NIMS and allows for the integration of the region’s incident management resources into the National Response Framework (NRF).

The objective of this formalized effort is to establish teams of individuals qualified to manage complex incidents. These teams will provide for incident safety, operational coordination and support, and fiscal accountability in an expedient manner for incidents within the Central Virginia Region, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and as requested nationally and internationally.
